weekend

Was long long long long long.

Began Thursday evening with massive bartending for Exotica a-go-go, the Devilettes dance troupe's party. Then Dan got the times wrong for Ozzie's next day SPCA appt., so I hurtled out of bed to drag her to the SPCA vet to sit in the waiting room for an hour and 15 minutes and then spend 15 minutes getting her retarded claw looked at, getting her shots done, and a microchip punched into her back. Now, if she tries to escape, we will be able to get her back, whether she likes it or not, ha ha!

Off to Yerba Buena to table for Kitchen Sink at the Sampling Oakland opening, then a cab to Rickshaw to bartend for Bardot-a-go-go (Happy Bastille Day!) in heeled knee high boots for 7 hours. Ugh. The sweat was unreal and hermetically sealed said boots to my calves and it took some finaggling to get them off at 3 a.m.

The next day, back to Rickshaw to bartend with 3-year-old Max for the Pearl Jam pre-party. It was a bit of a bust, which explained why CW's son got to stand on a stool and giddily rub his hands together while waiting for another customer to order a Stella. "Okay Max, get ready to push it back. Push the tap back, Max, Max, the tap....okay, just a little spillage, great job Max!" for 3 hours.

Then home again to change so we could go to the LoBot "Virus" show, which was excellent, excellent, excellent. I really wanted the bear with the trumpet painting, but I believe it was beyond our art budget, as were most of the pieces we liked. 1800 pieces! By 1800 different artists! In one space! Yes! We made it an early night with Capote and tom ka gai.

Next morning, I put away my piles of clean clothes and cleaned the bathrooms while listening to Dan read his piece for Telegraph Stories, offering advice and whatnot while gesturing with the spray bottle full of vinegar and orange cleanser.

We biked up to the new Temescal Farmers Market which is awesome. Dogs and kids and lumpias and organic pickles. Yum yum. Biked home with full bike baskets and then played some 2-on-2 soccer in the park with Russ, Armstead, and Maggie, then off to Telegraph Stories.

Dan's reading was great, but given the subject matter my Kitchen Sink friends, who all thought Dan was a Super Square (thanks to the nerd glasses and plaid shirts), think I have a lot of explaining to do.

Lisa and Brent and Maggie and Armstead and Phyllis and Dan and I headed over to the Ivy Room to check out Bart Davenport's funk band, where we ran into Ajax, who gracefully accepted a raspberry jello shot Dan bought for him, and Russ and Megan.

I want to just stay in tonight and not go to 3 events in one day. Call me crazy!
