How Pathetic Am I?

Hotdish.

It seems that I am given warm fuzzy feelings by listening to stories about hot dish.

Hotdish Heaven is a new book by Ann Burckhardt. She gives an audio interview on Minnesota Public Radio.

"Clear the decks for action...that's my style, I just go for it, dirty a lot of bowls and make a mess," says Ann, the nice Midwestern lady who wrote Hotdish Heaven.

"Hotdish is given a bad rap," says Ann. "Maybe it's not very colorful, but it is very satisfying and very forgiving."

Peach noddle kugel, a recipe Ann got from Al Franken's mother Phoebe, is included in her book. Ann was in theatre in the round with Al's parents in Mpls 42 years ago. Noodles in the bottom, egg, sour cream, cottage cheese, canned peaches, and cinnamon on top.

Fabulous!!

Perhaps I will make a heavenly hotdish for Thanksgiving?

Or perhaps one of the following tried and true Midwestern favorite recipes:

Party Potatoes (spiced with paprika!!)
Seven Layer Salad
Green Bean Casserole
Some Disturbing Jello Salad Involving Cool Whip and Canned Fruit

Any other suggestions??
